Old plans Jessica Watson's homecoming

Old plans Jessica Watson's homecoming:

Jessica Watson and her family will be asked for ideas for a public reception in Queensland to the young sailor's welcome back to her country of origin. The 16-year-old Queenslander arrived in Sydney on Saturday aboard her yacht, Lady Ella's Pink, after an epic 210-day solo, without the help of travel around the world. She is resting in Sydney ever since. Premier Anna Bligh of Queensland said she wanted a public welcome for the young adventurer when she came home. Ms Bligh originally asked Jessica's parents for their daughter after her mission to reconsider yacht collided with a 63,000-ton vessel off North Stradbroke Island on September 9 on a test sail. But Ms Bligh on Monday said the teenager deserved congratulations for evidence of "a lot of us wrong." "I was one of the people. I am a mother. I was worried about her. She was not get me wrong and I'm happy for her," she said. The Prime Minister said Jessica's team had already asked for their views on an appropriate event to give. "I think a lot of Queenslanders will say: Well done Jessica Watson," she said.
"We are looking for something very public that everyone can be involved in."
Ms Bligh said the event would be in addition to one planned in the home of Jessica's regions, the Sunshine Coast.
